Getting to and from school safely
As a parent or carer, it’s your responsibility to get your child to and from school safely. Student safety is our priority.
Keep our school community safe by:
- driving and parking safely, even if it means parking further away and walking the rest of the way to school
- being a good role model
- never calling your child from across the road
- using the safest place to cross the road.

Parking areas
Murrell Street access
Murrell Street is the only access road to the school and is predominantly used by parents to either park their cars and enter the school premises to drop off or pick up their children and/or briefly stop their cars to drop off children to school and pick up children who are waiting on the footpath after school.
Restricted parking in Murrell Street includes 15 Minute Parking, 2 Hour Parking, No Standing and No Parking zones with Ashfield Council Parking Rangers diligently on daily patrols.
Some parents and visitors choose to park on the other side of Liverpool Road in Queen Street and other local streets.
Please remember that a right hand turn from Liverpool Road into Murrell Street is not permitted.
Wests Ashfield Leagues
Wests Ashfield Leagues has agreed that parents from Ashfield Public School may use its parking facility, the Coo-ee Car Park.
This will be an option for parents finding it difficult to find a car park in Murrell Street during drop off and pick up time, before and after school. The condition of parking is that parents accessing the car park become members of Wests Ashfield Leagues, at a cost of $5 per annum.
Vehicles accessing the car park will 1) turn from Liverpool Road into the side road then 2) turn right into the EAST car park then 3) turn 180° and drive into the WEST car park.
After parking on any level in the WEST car park including levels B1, B2, B3 or B4 (in most cases it will be B2 or B3), parents will take the lift to Ground Level (G), turn right and walk along Liverpool Rd to the school.
Wests Ashfield Leagues is acknowledged for its ongoing support of our school.
Subsidised school travel
Transport for NSW provides subsidies to assist school students.
- The School Student Transport Scheme provides eligible students with free or subsidised travel on public transport between home and school.
- The School Drive Subsidy may help towards the costs of driving children to school if you live in an area where there is no public transport.
