Ashfield Public School Library is a highly resourced facility available to all the students, teachers, staff and parents of our school community. It includes a connected classroom and computer laboratory as well as an extensive collection of current fiction and non- fiction titles. Our Librarian is available to assist teachers with resources for DEC teaching and learning programs and to encourage students to explore all forms of Literacy. The Library is open every day for teacher supervised activities and the Librarian is available from Tuesday to Friday from 7.30am-5.00pm.
The Library Teaching Program includes timetabled class library lessons including Teachers' RFF Timetable and Information Technology class timetable. Our homework club operates one afternoon a week, where the Librarian and all the Library facilities are available for students from Years 3-6
The additional Library activities throughout the year include whole school participation in the Premiers Reading Challenge, Book Fair in Term 2, Book Character Parade and competitions to celebrate Book Week in Term 3, writing workshops ,talks and performances from visiting authors and illustrators and hosting International and local visitors to the school.
We ask that children have a bag clearly labelled with their names and class in order to protect the books..The number of books students can borrow varies, depending on the grade and is subject to the Librarian's discretion.
